Civeo Recognized with Turtle Award from FMFN 468

In many First Nations cultures, the turtle is a symbol of balance, patience, and interconnectedness. Often associated with creation, it is understood to carry the world on its back, representing harmony, responsibility, and continuity. This meaning is reflected in the Turtle Award, presented to Civeo Canada by the Fort McMurray 468 First Nation (FMFN 468) Economic Development Corporation during a gathering in Calgary this May.
The award recognizes the principles that guide how we work together, noting:
“This award recognizes a joint commitment to fostering a partnership grounded in mutual understanding, collaboration, and shared prosperity. It signifies a relationship built on trust, respect, and shared values.”
Accepting the award on behalf of Civeo were Andy Fraser, President, Civeo Canada; Mark Tysdal, SVP, Finance; Darren Ehman, Vice President, Operations and Asset Management; and Trevor Gladue, Senior Director, Indigenous Strategic Initiatives.
“It was an unexpected honour to receive this recognition from FMFN 468, one we are proud to receive,” Fraser said. “It speaks to the strength of the relationship we’ve built together and our long-term commitment to creating mutual economic opportunities.”
Jon Ross, Business Development Manager at FMFN 468 Economic Development Corporation, highlighted the importance of celebrating partnership:
“Building and strengthening partnerships is at the core of what we do. Taking the time to recognize shared success is important, and the Turtle Award reflects a partnership with Civeo that continues to deliver value for our community.”
Within the Seven Sacred Teachings, the turtle is often associated with truth and living in alignment with foundational values.
“The turtle reminds us of the responsibility to carry forward those teachings with integrity,” Gladue said. “It represents accountability, respect, and the principles that guide how we should work together.”
